FREE AGENTS
List three free-agent targets you’d pursue during the offseason, with a reasonable contract. A good example of a bad idea:
No. 1: Chris Taylor (three years, $50 million). Sox have a hole at Second Base and he fits in perfectly. Can also play the outfield if needed
No. 2: Andrew McCutchen (one year, $10 million). He was still a pretty valubale player last season for the Phillies with a .778 OPS and 109 OPS+ and hit 22 Home Runs.
No. 3: Kyle Schwarber (three years, $38 million). He is exactly what the White Sox need. A left handed power bat.
No. 4: Austin Romine (one year, $2 million). No one wants Zack Collins or Sebby as the back up catcher again
TRADES
Propose trades that you think sound reasonable for both sides, and the rationale behind them. A good example of a bad idea:
No. 1: Trade Andrew Vaughn and Matthew Thompson for Zack Wheeler. White Sox need pitching. Zack Wheeler would be ideal and the Phillies may be ready to shed some salary. This move would be costly but thats why the Sox sign Schwarber to replace some of Vaughns value.
No.2: Trade Dallas Keuchel to the Nationals for a PTBNL. Trade him for nothing and agree to pay his salary.
No.3: Trade Craig Kimbrel to the Angels for Jo Adell. It's a trade of fresh starts. Adell has struggled in his time with Angels and same for Kimbrel with the Sox. Could be a good reset button for both and Adell could serve as some insurance if father time catches up with Andrew McCutchen.
SUMMARY
The White Sox need to spend to fix these glaring wholes. You don't need a $100 million+ type but they need to spend and my plan does this. My lineup would look as follows.
SS Anderson
3B Moncada
CF Robert
1B Abreu
DH/LF Jimenez
DH/LF Schwarber
C Grandal
RF McCutchen
2B Taylor
Rotation;
Giolito
