White Sox Minor Keys: Sept. 4, 2021

Blake Rutherford (Laura Wolff /

There's still one game left in the week, but Blake Rutherford's performance in Norfolk this week says something about how hard it is to evaluate Charlotte Knights in terms of their home and road performances.

It was only Monday that we discussed how Rutherford had put himself in a position to finish his season with a flourish following a big two weeks at Truist Field, which included four homers and two three-hit games. In five games over four days in Norfolk, he's 1-for-18 with two walks and three strikeouts.

His slugging percentage before the last two weeks in Charlotte was .393. His slugging percentage after those two series was .416. And now it's back down to .399.
