Back in mid-May, I wrote about how the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers' awful 1-12 start was only surpassed by the Fredericksburg Nationals starting the season 0-13, and lamented how the two teams wouldn't face each other until the first week of July.

Well, it's the first week of July, and while both teams have been a respectable form of below-average since -- 15-25 for Kannapolis, 16-25 for Fredericksburg -- the meeting has still been every bit the hot mess we'd hoped for.

On Tuesday, the Nationals won 7-3 in the 10th inning via the only way a home team can win 7-3 in the 10th inning: with a walk-off grand slam.

On Wednesday, the Cannon Ballers jumped out to a 10-0 lead, only to watch Fredericksburg chip away with three crooked numbers. A leadoff single in the ninth brought the tying run to the plate, but Marcus Evey struck out the last two batters to secure the victory.

We'll see if Thursday brings anything, or if the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa will get in the way, just like it did with Charlotte.
