Before you look at what the Winston-Salem Dash did in Asheville, N.C., on Tuesday, it's worth remembering the environment in which the Dash played.
McCormick Field is a charming field nestled into the hillside, but the elevation changes behind its walls cramp its outfield. I've written about it before, but if you weren't around for that post in 2018 or otherwise forgot it, a quick summary of the dimensions:
- Left field line: 326
- Left center: 370
- Center field: 373
- Right center: 320
- Right field line: 297
There's a 36-foot high wall in right, but it doesn't really help that much. The Dash hit three homers on Tuesday night, including two by Yolbert Sanchez, and it shouldn't surprise you that all of them were to right and right center. Asheville doesn't offer a video feed, so you'll just have to imagine their validity.
This used to be a trip that the Intimidators made, but Asheville got the bump to High-A in the realignment, so now Winston-Salem gets to reap the benefits. The hitters, at least.
