Andrew Vaughn made his professional debut on Sunday night, and he'll carry a .500 average into his second game.
Vaughn went 2-for-4 in the Arizona League, with both hits singles. He also struck out and got plunked. Neither of the singles are awe-inspiring, but here they are for posterity:
It would be cool if Vaughn could somehow become the first White Sox first-round pick to destroy low-minors pitcher upon sight. The last three all struggled to distinguish themselves in their first half-seasons:
- Zack Collins: .244/.396/.435 over 164 PA
- Jake Burger: .263/.336/.412 over 217 PA
- Nick Madrigal: .303/.353/.348 over 173 PA
Madrigal's come the closest to looking as advertised out of the box, although he struggled to pull the ball in the air last season. This season's line -- .303/.372/.398 -- is more reflective of a threat.
