Wet weather continues to plague the Southeast. Charlotte and Birmingham were able to make up for at least one their lost games with doubleheaders on Sunday, but Kannapolis could only complete one of its three, while Winston-Salem had an entire weekend against Myrtle Beach washed out.
Dylan Cease probably wishes his game could be wiped away. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning on Sunday, throwing only half of his 40 pitches for strikes and allowing four runs. Cease never found his footing -- he walked three of seven batters he faced -- but his defense didn't help.
Daniel Palka had a chance for a 3-unassisted double play to end the inning after catching a liner, but took a bad angle toward first and couldn't catch Rob Refsnyder, who had broken the wrong way initially. He got another inning-ending-type bouncer toward third, but it flattened out on the cutout around third base and caught Ivan DeJesus off guard. Zack Collins then capped it off with a passed ball to score one of those runs, and Cease never got his third out.
