Andrew Vaughn is in the fold.
The extremely California-connected Mark Gonzales broke the news this afternoon, saying the White Sox signed him for the third-overall slot value of $7,221,200.
The timing may not be coincidental, as the White Sox open a lengthy homestand against the Twins on Friday, giving Vaughn ample time for a proper Chicago introduction. That was something they were unable to do for Nick Madrigal last year, as the White Sox were on the road between the end of Oregon State's College World Series run and the signing deadline.
By my calculations, the White Sox have about $1.6 million they can offer third-round pick Andrew Dalquist without going into the penalty, and a max of around $2.1 million if they exceed their draft pool by 5 percent. The third-round slot value is $755,300.
