Good morning!
Technically, Sean Burke reached 170 strikeouts on the season in his start against Cleveland on September 14, but with the amount of trivia fodder the Sox are providing Sporcle Saturdays these days, I'm just now getting around to this theme.
In so doing, Burke became the first White Sox pitcher to get 170 or more strikeouts in a season since 2024. It's difficult to believe that just five years ago the Sox had four different pitchers accomplish the feat; then again, they probably don't set the single-season loss record if they'd had more than one guy at a time with the ability and health to do so.
Today's Sporcle will take a look at other Sox pitchers who managed 170+ strikeouts in a season: in all, there are 55 instances. How many can you name? Good luck!
