José Quintana last pitched for the White Sox nine seasons and eight teams ago, but tonight will only be the third time he's started against the team that launched his career.
He comes into this one 1-2 with a 4.24 ERA in four games, three of which were starts that all lasted five innings. He was a Met the last time they met, and picked up his only win against the Sox by working around six hits and three walks.
He's only thrown 45 innings for the Rockies this year due to a left elbow sprain that cost him four months, but he was able to make a return to the mound a week ago against Seattle, and he'll get one more shot tonight. He's open to pitching next year, so it's probably not the end. But if it's somehow his last MLB start, it'll be a full-circle moment. And if the White Sox hang a loss on him, nobody should feel bad about it, because he'll still be over .500 for his career at 115-114.

Drew Romo has been seen around the White Sox dugout even though he's not on the roster, and his taxi squad was finally put to use. He's back on the 28-man roster for Jake Rogers, who is on the paternity leave list.
Chase Meidroth is missing his second straight game due to a sore left hamstring, and Will Venable told reporters before today's game it could have gone either way.
"Tough decision and really one where obviously we want Chase in there, and I think that if this was early in the summer, there would be absolutely no chance that we’d allow him to play. But we considered it because of how important this game is. Just as you’re evaluating the risk and reward of that, with the idea of the potential to further injure himself and eliminate him from the possibility of the playoffs, it was just too big of a risk. We just want to take it out of his hands and shut him down for today. May see him in a pinch hit, in which he doesn’t have to go out there and run around and play defense later in the game. I know he wants to play and wasn’t very happy with me in taking it away from him because he wants to be out there, but really feel strongly this is the best thing for him and for us as we go forward here."
