Caleb Bonemer's outfield career is off to an inauspicious start.
For one, the Birmingham Barons were no-hit by Rocket City in an 8-0 loss to the Trash Pands, although it was an ex post facto no-no since Dylan Campbell's line shot past shortstop Arjun Nimmala in the seventh inning was originally ruled a single, and wasn't changed until after the game.
Bonemer struggled as much as anybody, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, and failing to convert a difficult opportunity on the first ball hit his way. Five batters into the game, fellow Caleb Bartolero hit a deep drive to left center that tested Bonemer's range, and he took an overly aggressive angle that didn't allow him to close the gap.

The good news is the other three chances Bonemer had to record putouts all had a low degree of difficulty, and he handled each with ease, including a shallow fly ball where he had to call off three other Barons. That might've been the lone highlight of the evening for the Birmingham roster on the whole.
