The White Sox announced their prospects of the month for June, and neither was a name you'd anticipate garnering any sort of honor at the start of the season.

On the position player front, Boston Smith wasn't in the White Sox organization. He hit .293/.481/.603 with five homers, a triple, a double and more walks (20) than strikeouts (17) over 81 plate appearances with Winston-Salem. He made his Birmingham debut Thursday night.

Then there's Jairo Irairte, who's actually been strong for the last two months. It wasn't that impressive to see him posting a 1.64 ERA in May considering it was in Birmingham and he should've been done with Double-A in 2024, but he returned to Charlotte at the start of June without a drop-off. He retired just one of the five batters he faced in his first game with the Knights, then proceeded to throw seven scoreless appearances spanning 14 innings over the remainder of the month. It snuck up on me until going through the June numbers for the most recent Farm Fortnight, and he's back throwing 95 with a much harder slider.
