BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The Winston-Salem Dash are in between rosters right now, having graduated nearly all of their highest-ranked prospects to Birmingham, but without commensurate reinforcements coming up from Kannapolis.
In other words, they could really use Roch Cholowsky.
That said, I was interested in seeing James Taussig, who came into Saturday hitting .265/.371/.615 with 10 homers over 29 games with Winston-Salem. Sure, he's doing it as a 23-year-old with a 31-percent strikeout rate in High-A, but he was an undrafted free agent who signed with the White Sox out of UT-San Antonio after the 2025 draft, so he's been handling the assignments he's been given.
Also, he's listed at 6'6" and 230 pounds, so I just wanted to see what it looked like when he got into one. Turns out it's a pretty visceral experience.
He also contributed an RBI double in the first inning, so he drove in all three Dash runs while raising his line to .276/.382/.647.
Charlotte 7, Durham 5
- Rikuu Nishida went 3-for-4 with a triple, walk and stolen base. He was also picked off.
- Everson Pereira began his rehab stint, going 1-for-3.
- Ryan Galanie ws 1-for-5 with a homer and three strikeouts.
- Shane Smith: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 3 WP, 2 HBP, 32 of 67 pitches for strikes.
Birmingham 6, Rocket City 4
- Caleb Bonemer went 0-for-4 with a strikeout.
- Anthony DePino was 1-for-4 with two striekouts.
- Boston Smith was 0-for-1 with three walks.
- Colby Shelton went 0-for-2 with an HBP and a strikeout.
- Samuel Zavala went 1-for-2 with a grand slam and a walk.

- Javier Mogollón returned to the lineup and went 0-for-3 with a walk, two strikeouts and a stolen base.
