Shane Smith returned to Charlotte after completing his rehab stint at Winston-Salem, which means that he also returned to pitching in a Statcast ballpark.
The improved strike-throwing he'd shown in his last start with the Dash carried over to Sunday with the Knights, and with his typical velocity. He maintained 95-96 mph over the course of his four innings and 51 pitches, and aside from an infield single being followed by a hard-hit double in the third on a center-cut four-seam, resulting in the lone run on his tab, he didn't pay the price for being fastball-forward.
All of the available data says he's feeling good, albeit after just four innings. The way he laid into Michael Turner's backside coming back to the dugout suggests the same.
Shane Smith is fired up after a sharp start today. His first outing with the Knights since April 30th.
