Pierce George will be pitching for a third White Sox affiliate before the third month of this season is over.

After opening the season and being bumped up to Winston-Salem at the start of May, the White Sox will be promoting George to Double-A Birmingham for the start of the next series.

George closed out his last Winston-Salem appearance with a perfect inning on Sunday, striking out two of the three batters he faced on 15 pitches. He absorbed a little more damage at High-A compared to Low-A, but the improved strike-throwing that marked the start of his emergence this season remained intact, and the results were pretty good around it.

George was a 13th-round pick out of Alabama in 2024, but he'd been worth tracking despite the inauspicious start because he sits 99 mph with his fastball with a power curveball and a low-90s cutter. He'd pitched 67 ⅓ innings without giving up a homer at Kannapolis, but gave up three over 17 innings with Winston-Salem, so Double-A should expand upon the one area he was tested at either level of A-ball this season.
