The White Sox made a number of minor roster moves on Saturday, but a few of them stand out:
*Jurdrick Profar was promoted to Kannapolis from the Arizona Complex League. He'd started the season hitting .267/.450/.567 with three homers, eight walks and 14 strikeouts over 14 games, which ain't bad for a 19-year-old. But he's also repeating the level after failing to make a dent there last year, so Low-A should tell us how much of his improvement is actual development, versus merely getting assimilated to rookie ball.
*Rylan Galvan was promoted to Winston-Salem after hitting .226/.399/.452 in Kannapolis. He ran a Three True Outcome rate of 68 percent thanks to eight homers, 31 walks and 62 strikeouts over 148 appearances, so let's see what the next level does to that.
*Wilfred Veras was released after 573 games in the White Sox system over six seasons, including 334 at Double-A alone. It looked like the Sox might've had something when he finished 2023 hitting .309/.346/.533 over his first 38 games at Birmingham, but every repeat of the level finished with him further away from the next step. He was hitting just .219/.381/.350 over 45 games this season before the Sox cut him loose.
