It's not quite Gavin Sheets returning to the park where his father played, but Sean Burke is sort of returning to his old stomping grounds as a University of Maryland product.

His last two outings have been stellar: 13.2 IP, 11 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 14 K, 2 HR.

"I think landing the curveball specifically has stood out," said pitching coach Zach Bove. "Finding the bottom with it. That's been the conversations. Once he's able to do that, it opens up the four-seam up. You saw that with a couple of the swings against Cleveland. He landed the curveball early, then you give them four[-seamers] up and it opens up the spin down. I think the curveball has kind of opened up the avenues. When guys have to respect that, it opens so many more options to attack guys."

⚙️Randal Grichuk is starting over Andrew Benintendi at DH despite a right-handed opposing starters.

⚙️The 10-straight home series victories are cute, but now the seven-straight road series defeats loom larger.
