White Sox Minor Keys: May 15, 2026

The Luis Robert Jr. trade has gotten off to a pretty cursed start.

Robert is on the Mets' IL with a back issue and is "not progressing the way we would like," manager Carlos Mendoza said earlier this week. On the White Sox's side, Luisangel Acuña is batting .181/.242/.193 and has more or less been relegated to the team's 26th man, and Truman Pauley allowed 23 runs on 23 hits and 24 walks over his first 25 innings with Kannapolis.

But at least the last name on that list provided a proof of concept on Friday night against Charleston by striking out 10 RiverDogs over 4 ⅔ innings, and throwing 43 of 71 pitches for strikes, which constitutes an improvement there. He came into pro ball from the 12th round out of Harvard with some remarks bout his gyro slider, and FutureSox's highlight reel shows how little horizontal movement it can have.

• Braden Montgomery went 2-for-5 with a double.
• Jacob Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a strikeout and a stolen base.
• Ryan Galanie, 0-for-4.
• Hagen Smith: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 6 K, 44 of 75 pitches for strikes.
• Jordan Leasure: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 9 of 13 pitches for strikes.

Birmingham 9, Rocket City 4

• Samuel Zavala went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts.
• Colby Shelton was 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.
• Anthony DePino hit his first Double-A homer, singled, struck out and was hit by a pitch.
• Connor McCullough: 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HBP, 37 of 65 pitches for strikes.

Highlights:

*DePino deposited 92 mph onto the center field batter's eye.
