Pregame notes: White Sox announce no transactions

In advance of tonight's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix, the Chicago White Sox announced no roster changes.

The 40-man roster remains at 40, because there were 40 men on the roster entering today, and nobody on it has been recalled, optioned, designated for assignment, reinstated, waived, placed or released.

The White Sox had made 26-man and/or 40-man roster changes before each of the three previous games, and in five of the last six.

• April 19: Added Osvaldo Bido to the 26-man roster, optioned Doug Nikhazy to Charlotte.
• April 18: Claimed Bido from Atlanta, transferred Prelander Berroa to the 60-day injured list.
• April 17: Recalled Nikhazy from Charlotte, optioned Tyler Gilbert to Charlotte.
• April 15: Selected the contract of Sam Antonacci, recalled Gilbert from Charltotte, optioned Brandon Eisert to Charlotte, designated Dustin Harris for assignment.
• April 14: Selected the contract of Noah Schultz, reinstated Everson Pereira from the IL and placed Jonathan Cannon on the IL.

The absence of transactions hints at the possibility of the White Sox adjusting to MLB rules, which allow teams to carry the same bullpen configuration for an unlimited amount of consecutive games. That said, Will Venable utilized zero relievers on Monday because the White Sox were off, which opens the possibility that even a routine amount of relievers deployed in tonight's game may result in a deficiency of fresh arms by Wednesday.
