Sporcle Saturday: Happy birthday, Minnie Minoso

The Rucker Archive/Icon Sportswire

Good morning, and a Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! And whether you did or not, my hopes for a restful weekend for you and yours.

It was on this day in 1923 that one Saturnino Orestes Armas Miñoso was born in Perico, Cuba. Miñoso, of course, was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022 and factors in as a major character in both franchise history and MLB more generally.

Pertinent to today's Sporcle, he was just the third unique player (and fourth overall) in White Sox history to record 20 or more home runs and 30 or more doubles in the same season, in 1960. In all, there have been 57 player-seasons where a White Sox batter accomplished such a feat. How many can you name? Good luck!
