Winston-Salem called it a season on Sunday while the regular season plays on for the Birmingham, so the White Sox promoted a cadre of Dash ahead of the Barons' final series before the Southern League playoffs.
The Barons are now quadrupling down on pesky infielders by promoting Jordan Sprinkle, who finally made his Birmingham debut four seasons after being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. He still can't hit, as evidenced by his .172/.284/.264 line in Winston-Salem, but he's stolen 77 bases in 86 attempts, and that's why he's around.
Also around: Caden Connor, a solid bat who is back from his successful emergency cameo with Charlotte (.333/.422/.410 over 13 games). He might be able to help replace Braden Montgomery, who is out for the rest of the Barons' journey with a fracture in his right foot. Meanwhile, the bullpen adds the most delightful pair of relievers possible: the 5-foot-9-inch Phil Fox and the 6-foot-9-inch Carson Jacobs.
To round it out, the Barons also added Jackson Appel to the roster. He went to the development list, but given that he posted a .248/.387/.318 line at Winston-Salem and Birmingham's catcher ranks have been in flux thanks to the injury to Michael Turner, it's not out of the question that he could end up finding some playing time.
