Good morning!

With Andrew Benintendi hitting a grand slam in a losing effort on Thursday, the White Sox are officially on the board, joining 21 other teams to have at least one granny on the season. The teams who have yet to hit one? Kansas City, Minnesota, Texas, San Diego, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis, Washington, and Atlanta.

Looking at the statistics, it's a fun list because it's pretty random. The Dodgers haven't hit one, but they've already allowed seven. Arizona already has hit 8 with Eugenio Suarez accounting for 3 of them. Meanwhile there have been a total of 60 grand slams hit entering Friday's slate of games: 30 left-handed batters and 30 right-handed batters have hit grand slams.

As you've no doubt determined, grand slams are what today’s Sporcle is all about: which Sox players since 1990 have hit at least one grand slam in a season? There are 132 entries: how many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I’ve allotted 15 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I’ve provided the year and the position of the player. If a player hit more than one in a season, I’ve notated a parenthetical number next to the year.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • Dating back to 1957, the Sox have had a player hit a grand slam at least once during a season, except for 1980 (and excluding the 2020 shortened season).
  • No player has hit more than 4 in one season for the White Sox, though it has happened twice: once in 1997 and again in 2008.
  • Since 1912, the White Sox have hit 296 grand slams.
