Because I was curious -- mostly from wondering why the ACL White Sox box scores are short on compelling lines to report -- I looked into the low-minors arms the White Sox traded for two lefty relievers this winter.

Yhoiker Fajardo (traded for Cam Booser): 3 G, 3 GS, 10 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 3 BB, 10 K while pitching once a week in the Florida Complex League.

Aaron Combs (traded for Tyler Gilbert): 8 G, 7 GS, 25.1 IP, 25 H, 18 R, 16 ER, 5 BB, 30 K, good for a 5.68 ERA for High-A Jersey Shore.

Further bulletins as events warrant.

  • Rikuu Nishida had both Barons hits, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base.
  • William Bergolla was 0-for-2 with a walk.
  • Ryan Galanie, 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
  • Wilfred Veras, 0-for-2 with a walk and a CS.
  • DJ Gladney struck out all three trips.
  • Jacob Gonzalez was 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.
  • Jake Palisch: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 51 of 76 pitches for strikes.

Hub City 7, Winston-Salem 6

  • Jeral Perez went 1-for-5 with a homer.
  • Braden Montgomery was 0-for-3 with a strikeout and an HBP.
  • Samuel Zavala was 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.
  • Christian Oppor's second start with Winston-Salem looked like his first: 3.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 47 of 71 pitches for strikes.

Notes:

*Montgomery took the first pitch after Perez's homer to the ear flap and was removed from the game. It appeared to be more of a precautionary move from Pat Leyland, as Montgomery got back to his feet and appeared to have his faculties, but we'll see whether he misses any time over the course of the week.
