The Charlotte Knights were shut out by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, and for the first few innings, that didn't quite sum up the lack of offense, for RailRiders starter Allan Winans opened the game by striking out 10 of the first 11 batters he faced:
- Travis Jankowski, strikeout
- Greg Jones, strikeout
- Brandon Drury, strikeout
- TIm Elko strikeout
- Kyle Teel, strikeout
- Bryan Ramos, strikeout
- Colson Montgomery, walk
- Corey Julks, strikeout
- Zach DeLoach, strikeout
- Travis Jankowski, strikeout
- Greg Jones, strikeout
Winans then walked Brandon Drury with one out in the fourth before Tim Elko grounded into a force out for Charlotte's first ball in play. Kyle Teel followed with a bunt single for the Knights' first hit, and Winans hit his limit with 56 pitches over 3⅔ innings.
For what it's worth, the Knights only struck out four times over the final 5⅓ innings. It's probably not worth much, as they only totaled two other hits.
