Good morning!
This week marks the last of the positional Opening Day roster positions, and we end with Designated Hitter.
This category acts as the calm before the storm: obviously, you won’t be tasked with naming guys from the 1930s, and the number of possible entries is comparatively small: just 52 names dating to 1973.
Next week will be the full shebang: 907 Opening Day starters, likely to be split into three separate quizzes (Sporcle's number of possible answers is capped at 500, which limits how many I can cram into a single quiz and also have nice round cutoff dates). For today, though, how many DHs can you name? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- I’ve allotted 15 minutes for completion attempts.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:
- No player has made more than four consecutive starts at Designated Hitter in franchise history.
- Four players, though, have made four consecutive Opening Day starts at the position.
- After back-to-back appearances of the same guy in 2023-24, this season will reset the counter to zero once again.
