White Sox prospect Drew Thorpe

Drew Thorpe (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

Drew Thorpe now has as many wins as the Winston-Salem Dash, as he improved to 3-0 by throwing seven shutout innings in Birmingham's 2-0 victory over the Mississippi Braves Thursday night.

Thorpe made pretty easy work of it, allowing just four singles and two walks. He only struck out three, but he also induced four popouts (two to the catcher), and another weak flare probably should've been caught by Brooks Baldwin in shallow left field.

He's pitched five, six and seven innings in his three starts, putting him on track for a complete game by the end of the month. The line is nearly spotless: 18 IP, 10 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 18 K, and he's yet to allow an extra-base hit.
