White Sox Minor Keys: Aug. 6, 2023
The Keynan Middleton stuff blew up as I sat down to write out the Minor Keys, so enjoy this Bryan Ramos walk-off homer, the Curt Bloom call that accompanies it, and the terrible cooler management at the end of it.
Charlotte 4, Norfolk 2
- Lenyn Sosa went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts.
- Korey Lee, 1-for-4.

Birmingham 5, Rocket City 4
- José RodrÃguez went 2-for-5 with a strikeout and a stolen base.
- Colson Montgomery, 0-for-3 with two walks and two strikeouts.
- Bryan Ramos went 1-for-3 with the walk-off homer, two walks and a strikeout.

- Jared Kelley was better: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HBP, 34 of 50 pitches for strikes.
Kannapolis 3, Charleston 1
- Eddie Park went 2-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.
- Jacob Gonzalez was 1-for-5 with a double.
- Brooks Baldwin, 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout. He was also caught stealing.
- Calvin Harris went 3-for-5 with a double and a strikeout.
Other than “small sample size” is there anything to take away from 16 of Montgomery’s 25 AA plate appearances resulting in an extra base hit, walk, or strikeout? I’m not sure I’ve seen a .211 average pencil out to a .938 OPS in recent memory. It’d be downright Buhnerian if it weren’t even more extreme that Buhner’s career stats of .254 and .852 respectively.
Ramos’s post-tacked ball dominance continues.
Colson has gotten on-base in every AA game so far this year.
Are his HBP:
