Sporcle Saturday: Who’s in right?

(Photo by Raymond Carlin III/USA TODAY Sports)

Good morning!

As discussed on the most recent Sox Machine podcast with Keith Law, right field appears to be Oscar Colas' position to lose (and, likely, can't lose in most cases). A defensively-average Colas would still be worlds better than what the Sox have trotted out in recent seasons, though, as evidenced by this morning's Sporcle.

A total of eight different players played at least one inning in right field last season: going back to the beginning of the rebuild in 2017, that makes for 43 player seasons (with several repeats) to make an appearance at the position. Not good! But, that's what you're tasked with remembering for today's Sporcle: how many of those player seasons can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I've allotted ten minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I’ve provided the year and the number of innings for each player.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • The highest OPS logged from any of these players –among meaningful playing time, at least– was .810.
  • That same player is responsible for logging the most total bases of the players on this list, 398 over two seasons. The next-highest is 112. Spread over five seasons.
