White Sox Minor Keys: Sept. 20, 2022
Oscar Colás made his Triple-A debut for Charlotte against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday night, but he’s not the only member of Project Birmingham supplementing the Knights for their final nine games.
Sean Burke will also complete his 2022 season with at least one appearance at Triple-A, and pitching instructor John DeRouin went into satisfying detail about the way Burke has reorganized his arsenal over the course of the season.
About his fastball:
About his curve:
And about his slider:
Jacksonville 2, Charlotte 1
- Mark Payton went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
- Oscar Colás singled, walked and struck out twice.
- Lenyn Sosa went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
- Yolbert Sänchez was 0-for-3 with a sac fly and a strikeout.
Burke for a potential Davis Martin role next season (assuming Martin has more or a 5thish starter role permanently next year)?
He is definitely gonna see Chicago next year given how thin the sox starting pitching is in the minors, and that their current staff will only have 4 starters under contract for 2023, 1 of which they will likely continue to baby along.
Who do you see as needing to be babied?
