Um, so Castillo is apparently going for the strikeout record today. His stuff is filthy.

hellotowel

Farewell, all post-TLR good vibes. Time to pack it in and get to football.

Foulkelore

Not so fast

roke1960

I’ve already prepared my Offseason plan, but the biggest changes to the team will certainly not be on the field.

Foulkelore

Eloy says, “Boom”!

soxygen

And that is why you have to run hard to first every time – because sometimes the next guy up to bat hits a home run

Cancel the post-game show!

Fans:
Come on D, Kopech’s fighting it today. Let’s do whatever we can to pick him up.

White Sox D:
Nah.

soxygen

Rough inning in the field. Glad we got to see Elvis yelling at Yoan that the play wasn’t dead. Yeesh.

ForsterFTOG

Looked more like he was asking the ump if it was foul.

soxygen

The announcers said he was yelling “home” to Yoan and used the word “lackadaisical” to describe Yoan’s play after he picked up the ball.

ChiSoxND12

Yoan is always going to appear somewhat lackadaisical to a degree. It’s his default body language.

He did amble slowly to the ball but he wasn’t completely oblivious. He knew the lead runner wasn’t bolting for home and there was no throw to be made

How do you know what Moncada’s state of mind was in that moment? Just curious, because that’s a cool trick!

ChiSoxND12

Because I’ve coached and played a lot of baseball and honestly you can just tell sometimes. He does look lackadaisical at times, but he glanced over and got his information (no advance was imminent, runner was standing on 3rd, and a decision to advance would’ve resulted in an easy toss home from Moncada to get the runner by 30+ feet)

But I appreciate the sarcasm

ForsterFTOG

The announcer was mistaken. He was yelling “no” to the ump hoping he could sell it to the ump.

Foulkelore

How about a home run, Jose? I like first basemen who can hit home runs.

Foulkelore

Fine, I’ll settle for RBI single.

GrinnellSteve

I turned off the game and did the dishes and moved laundry. I check back in and what do I see?

Foulkelore

Don’t worry, if there’s one guy who will settle things down and get you out of a jam, it’s 2022 Joe Kelly.

Foulkelore

Whew, ok, good enough, Joe.

GrinnellSteve

I love watching Kelly and Diekmann.

Augusto Barojas

As great as them getting Eloy, Cease, Giolito via trades was, Hahn’s putting together this bullpen is pretty much the exact opposite of that. Removes any notion that he is a good or even simply adequate GM.

Foulkelore

Interesting to take Vaughn out here, rather than waiting an inning. His spot is coming up in the 8th if anybody reaches.

Foulkelore

Ugh, welcome back, Bummer.

GrinnellSteve

Bummer hasn’t missed a beat…

Right Size Wrong Shape

Another guy who was kicking ass before he got hurt and has been really good most of his Sox career, but people have just decided that they hate him.

Foulkelore

Cairo, you better have somebody else warming to come in after the 3 batter minimum. Bummer does not have it.

Augusto Barojas

That’s apparently what we have Velasquez for. I’m only following the game online, I did not take seriously that Velasquez was warming in the bullpen. And yet here he is.

Gee, I wonder how this is going to turn out. I don’t care if he gets 3 straight outs, this is just the stupidest move. I mean wtf?

Augusto Barojas

Bummer proving true to his name. Have not liked how he has looked most of the time going back to middle of last year.

Foulkelore

Um, they said Velasquez is warming in the Sox bullpen as they took a 7-6 lead going to the 8th. Please, no.

Augusto Barojas

The only way that would be true is if Cairo is either dumb as a bag of hammers, or has an earpiece that Tony is giving him instructions through.

Foulkelore

The only thing that I can figure is at least one of Graveman/Liam isn’t available today, but neither pitched yesterday.

Augusto Barojas

Yeah. I mean you would think it means Graveman is not available, and that Liam can’t go 2 innings. Either way, VV got through the inning.

Praying he does not come out to pitch the 9th, or Harrison!

soxygen

7-6 ballgame, 8th inning, September game versus a hot team/likely playoff team…so it is time for…Vince Velazquez?

There are some seemingly obvious choices that everyone assumed La Russa made because he’s addle minded or arrogant or whatever, but now that Cairo is making them too you have to wonder about what we don’t know. Why does Moncada bat 2nd? Why can’t Engel start in the OF? Is Graveman not available to pitch the 8th even though he had yesterday off?

soxfan

What do I know. Vince retires the side on seven pitches.

Augusto Barojas

Maybe this game won’t end in darkness after all. I thought VV spelled doom. Now a couple insurance runs…somebody had better be healthy enough to pitch the 9th.

Right Size Wrong Shape

I thought they made it clear pretty early this year that Graveman and Kelly can’t pitch back-to-back days. The one time they tried it with Graveman was the meltdown in Colorado, and the time they tried it with Kelly his arm fell off.

And I know everyone loves Sparky Engel, but when he hasn’t been old Engel at the plate he’s been the master of disaster on the bases and in the field.

Tony sucks, but he also hasn’t had the full complement to work with much of this season.

gregz18

So, does Seattle play all of their home games at times when the shadows are just awful? Does it just look worse on TV? Did they orient the stadium this way on purpose?

By the way – man Andrus might be saving this season.

It’s a known phenomenon, a result of how it’s built with a retractable roof. But day/midafternoon games are a lot less common than evening games where it’s not nearly as noticeable, or ofc closed roof games.

Bless that Twins bullpen. Just need Liam to polish it off today for a hard-fought series victory.

a-t

Brilliant tactical maneuver calling for a bunt there lmao

King Joffrey

Why did they walk Moncada? It wasn’t a 1-2 count.

Augusto Barojas

Cairo bringing in VV in the 8th, the man’s a damn genius.

roke1960

That was an absolutely massive win. Beating a hot team on the road down 4-0 to one of their best pitchers- then blowing the lead and coming back. They need a big series in Oakland!
