White Sox Minor Keys: June 23, 2022

Besides seeing dozens of new prospects in standard game situations, one of the benefits of the start of the Arizona Complex League season is the end of extended spring training, because as Evan Drellich of The Athletic notes, players are barely paid for their presences there.

Fortunately, the White Sox aren't one of the five teams that Advocates for Minor Leaguers said didn't pay players a salaries (A's, Angels, Brewers, Marlins and Reds), but Drellich goes into detail about what it's like living on meager allowances, and it feels especially exploitative when recently relocated Latin American 17-, 18- and 19-year-olds comprise a sizable portion of the personnel.

Worcester 4, Charlotte 3

    • Eloy Jiménez progressed in his rehab stint, going 2-for-4 with a strikeout as a DH.
    • Carlos Pérez went 3-for-4.
    • Yolbert Sánchez was 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.

Birmingham 3, Rocket City 2

    • José Rodríguez went 1-for-4 with a strikeout, but was caught stealing.
    • Trey Jeans in his Double-A debut: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K

Hudson Valley 6, Winston-Salem 1

    • Oscar Colás collected 60 percent of the Dash's hits by going 3-for-4.
    • Bryan Ramos was 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.
    • Luis Mieses, 0-for-4.
    • Harvin Mendoza had the other two hits over his four at-bats.
    • Cristian Mena's High-A debut: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 2 K.

Myrtle Beach 8, Kannapolis 7 (10 innings)

    • Wes Kath wore the golden sombrero during an 0-for-5 night.
    • Colson Montgomery kept his on-base streak alive by going 1-for-5.
    • DJ Gladney homered twice while going 2-for-5, striking out once.
    • Wilfred Veras also went 2-for-5 with a strikeout, but he merely singled and doubled.
    • James Beard succeeded as a pinch runner, stealing a base and scoring a run.
    • Norge Vera: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR
    • Hunter Dollander's A-ball debut: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
