Writing about the White Sox for a 16th season, first here, then at South Side Sox, and now here again. Let’s talk curling.

One of the best gifts 2022 has given us is the Cueto/Seby combo. I love it. Cueto for getting it and throwing. Seby coaching him as if he knows how to fix the herky jerky machine when it runs afoul. It’s great
Leury is useless
He looks like the old Leury, without the hot streaks.
An average player is worth around 2 WAR. Leury has 2.9 WAR for his career (9 years).
He may be the only guy who started the year with the team that has functioning legs. But that does appear to be all he brings. If he could donate his hamstrings to those in need I’d gladly accept the 15 mil
I like sterling more than dazzling.
Sox should score a ton of runs tonight. Robert on the bench gives their best hitter a chance to finally play. Why his he batting 8th? Glad they have him for two more years.
Hot Gavin Sheets would be one heck of a silver lining to the injuries.
Have to disagree a bit with Benetti’s notion that Burger has crushed the ball in recent days. Sure, last 15 games look good. But in the last 7 he has gone the wrong way, striking out almost half the time
Super Joe’s superpower is getting guys thrown out at the plate.
Our entire negative run differential is probably at the plate. Jesus. I don’t know who needs to go more, leury or mcewing
Why no both?
Well, Sosa is debuting now, but not for a good reason.
The night is young
Why is Garcia playing short CF all night?
Wait until we are into the soft schedule I was told
In fairness, it’s been 12 games since the gauntlet ended and they are 7-5. In that 12 includes jays and astros series so I wouldn’t call it easy yet but the year is still young. It’s aging, but still plenty of time
It would feel softer without Leury Garcia in CF … and the lineup.
Cursed vibes once again.
AJ Pollock being White Sox stalwart of health is truly something to behold
Hopefully lenyn sparks us here and never looks back
Sosa first at bat might be the highlight of this game
Mas Venezolanos, por favor
Ahhh…he was a bit nervous in his first swing. He got out of that first at bat, now to adjust to these pitches.
Welcome to the show Sosa
99
Followed by an 88 mph Splitter
Brutal
Daryl Boston pitching for Baltimore
Vaughn murdered that pitch and has nothing to show for it
The Sox will lose tonight, win the next three, then get vaporized Monday night in Anaheim since this season is all about crushing whatever tiny morsel of hope they occasionally muster.
Athletic individuals who actually try hard. Who gave these orioles the right to build a team like that? I feel like against the sox outfield like 7 runs are on the board
Why haven’t all of their outfielders’ hamstrings torn yet?
Their strength and conditioning coach isn’t a failed Kenny Williams draft pick?
It speaks to prioritizing defense. That said, Robert and Engel could hang with that, but I don’t know what to expect when they are on bad legs
Maybe trying to hit it out of the park will help avoiding those outfielders web gems
Must be the ball.
Only for the Sox.
This game has me really considering the merits of the “don’t give Jerry any more money until this gets better” route. There is just no joy in this experience right now.
A fly that wasn’t caught! What a concept
Nice PA by the kid, even though he chased a couple definite balls. That’s a clutch situation, and he took a couple tough ones.
Atta boy Sosa, that was a great at bat
Sosa already with a better eye then Leury
This has been one of the most entertaining game threads in awhile…thanks.
