TA7 is only playing once today, but surely Garcia and Harrison will play twice. Leury batting second. I mean how many belligerently stupid lineups do we have to see in one week? They had an off day two days ago!

phillyd

Off day tomorrow and Friday this week too. I wish the big guys would play both games too.

soxfan

I like to imagine that La Russa and Boone got on the phone and agreed to give each guy a game off so there’d be no risk of escalation.

phillyd

Nice bunt double by YoYo.

Denman

So far Sheets has a walk and a strikeout, but, he’s showing some good plate discipline. You got to make pitchers work to get outs.

jhomeslice

It would not be hard to see how Cueto could wind up being easily their best offseason addition. Which is pretty sad, but glad the Sox signed him anyway.

Is Johnny Cueto our lord and savior?

jhomeslice

It’s either JC or that dude Ron from scientology.

Not even a cramp could stop him against the heart of the Yankees lineup the third time through.

Cueto helping Keuchel pack

jhomeslice

VV should get DFA’d way before Keuchel, imo. But certainly the question of who their 5th starter should be when Lynn gets back has been all but answered.

soxygen

I think Cueto starts are going to be must see TV for me this summer.

phillyd

Grandal looks like he is swinging a tree trunk. Bat looks too heavy for him.

Fifth Starter Power Rankings

1. Cueto
2a. Keuchel
2b. Davis Martin
4. VV

Joliet Orange Sox

I think the comments from a week ago about Joe Kelly being a bum have not aged well.

Pollock!

cod power!

Chapman is washed lmao

GrinnellSteve

Pollock is starting to look like a guy you’d trade a “future Hall of Fame” closer for.

Root Cause

Honest question. Why put Vaughn in the 8th spot between a .192 and a .159 hitter? The logic escapes me.

metasox

Order is stacked with left handed bats against Severino. Vaughn still really living off left handers.

jorgefabregas

Nice to see Kopechโ€™s velocity back. Sitting 96-98. Hope thatโ€™s because heโ€™s feeling great, not because heโ€™s maxing out effort on national TV.

mrridgman

WTH are these stupid Yankees doing? They will wear out their stars by July if they keep playing them every day.

As Cirensica

No scoring with the bases loaded and no outs hurts a lot

asinwreck

Through 5 innings, this is the most impressive combination of velocity and craft I’ve ever seen from Kopech. He’s hitting the corners and blowing guys away.

The results, aided by a couple of fine catches last inning, are equally impressive.

asinwreck

Old friend Rob Brantly broke up the perfect game with a double in the sixth, and Kopech pitched over it.

asinwreck

In the seventh, his command is ebbing. Quite a few balls up.

asinwreck

Maybe he had a blister developing? He managed to strike out Florial to preserve the shutout.

tommytwonines

TA quiets the crowd!

They were toying with the Yankees the whole time!

Denman

Wow, what a difference a week makes. What was all that talk about the Sox clearly not being on par with the Yankees as WS contenders?

phillyd

Still a whole lot of baseball left, but man debating where this version of Kopech fits into the playoff rotation will be fun. Make it a reality, White Sox!

Ben

What an amazing day from the pitching staff! Completely shut down the best hitting team in baseball for 18 innings.

The combined performance today is more impressive to me than the no hitter the Mets staff threw earlier this year.
