Cease is dealing!!

Foulkelore

Hey, does anybody know what it means when the number next to the Sox icon is greater than the number by the KC icon? I’m not very familar with this scenario.

roke1960

I remember that used to happen a lot last year, but it’s been so long I forgot what that means!

Joliet Orange Sox

Recent evidence shows this phenomenon doesn’t last long and its short appearances correlate with me being very grouchy later in the day.

2 runs in 3 innings? To whom do we owe the blessings for granting us this spoil of riches?!

Tony of course.

roke1960

I’m starting to think this Cease guy is pretty good.

roke1960

3 runs!! Tony is a genius!!

Foulkelore

Save some for tomorrow, boys.

roke1960

They’ve saved enough over the last 8 games to last a month.

jorgefabregas

Having 1st basemen playing the outfield corners factoring in bigly during this inning.

The White Sox spent $8 trillion on a bullpen so Dylan Cease could throw 100 pitches in six innings against the Royals in April after a shortened Spring Training

I thought it was reasonable to leave Cease in to finish the 6th.

roke1960

Cease showed a lot of guts getting thru that. I thought that was a good thing to let him work his way out of that.

I also think the saying the Sox spent $8 trillion on the bullpen is a bit of hyperbole. Hyperbole is a rhetorical device I would never use in a million years.

Qubort

Spring training was shortened by 3 weeks roughly? We’re past 3 weeks into the season. Before today we were one of only three teams that didn’t have a quality start. I think Cease going 6 is fine.

Cease pitched great through 5 and third time was coming up, need to pull him every time regardless of time of year. The entire SP is full of 5 inning pitchers who shouldn’t see the 6th, Lynn and Gio included. They throw too many pitches and see too many hitters to consistently go longer.

The Sox don’t rely on analytics enough. The bullpen is set up to carry 4 innings but the manager needs to know how to use it.

calcetinesblancos

Just watched the replay of that Burger bomb. Gotta imagine scouts will start telling their teams to never throw him any high heat.

a-t

I mean, that was what, 88mph “high heat”?

To be fair I was positive that a backbreaking error was going to happen. Things are getting better!

Holy shit a good thing happened

As Cirensica

Andrew Vaughn by far the best White Sox hitter

roke1960

If Vaughn hits below 4th the rest of the year, Tony should be fired on the spot.

As Cirensica

That ship already sailed some games ago

BenwithVen

I hope he’s hitting 3rd when Robert comes back.

jhomeslice

That makes sense to me. I could even see Robert hitting 4th since he has more power than Moncada, and going TA, Yoan, Vaughn, Robert.

Kelly Wunsch N' Munch

I don’t see that happening unfortunately. They’ll keep running Abreu in the 3rd or 4th spots regardless.

HallofFrank

Well, I’m glad Leury Garcia wasn’t hitting 2nd.

jhomeslice

I would have pinch hit Leury for Vaughn, but that’s just me. Glad our manager is real smart.

As Cirensica

Looking for a single…yeah, that would have been the smart thing

roke1960

Now that’s a shutown inning!!

HallofFrank

I really like Graveman. He is better than Tepera.

As Cirensica

He is a different pitcher. Tepera is doing well with the Angels

jhomeslice

I wish they had Tepera rather than injured Kelly, for less money no less.

As Cirensica

I hope this ages poorly. I want Kelly to be unhittable so we can finally have a lights out bullpen

jhomeslice

Kelly and Tepera are about the same, both pretty good when healthy. Neither is unhittable, but I’ll take very good from Kelly. He’d better be for what they are paying him.

HallofFrank

True. I liked Tepera, too. But as the righty bridge to Hendriks, I like Graveman more. The question will be whether Kelly is preferable to Tepera.

jhomeslice

I’d be more than happy if Kelly is just as good as Tepera. He doesn’t need to be better. There was nothing wrong with Tepera, same numbers as Kelly last year, and is doing well so far this year. And not on the IL.

roke1960

I really think that when Yoan and Robert come back, Abreu needs to get dropped in the order. The top 4 should be Timmy, Yoan, Robert and Vaughn in some order, then Yaz and Abreu.
