What a beautiful field man….
Boy, I thought that opening was super cringey.
They know that Kevin Costner is just an actor, right?
Can’t wait to see Eloy hitting one to the corn field
Here’s hoping the White Sox don’t lose this joke of a game to the Yankees on national television….
Context?
Otherwise, I hope you are immortality stuck in a time loop watching it.
The context is they got swept by the Yankees in 3 games earlier in the season. If this is a playoff team, then they should be able to come back and win a game on national television.
The audio is crappy? Just me? Lits of ‘pops’, uneven volume
No K zone really irks me
Yankees succeeded in getting his pitch count up
Pito to the corn field
I’m not getting caught up in the politics that is tied to this game in Iowa.
Maybe corny but I like that MLB is doing something different. It breaks up the 162 games that can be uninspiring some days. It’s a beautiful backdrop. It has a local vibe.
I would like to see them do something like this every year. Look at history and pay respects to the Negro League, those from Cuba, etc. This is the kind of thing that could bring new fans to baseball.
I agree, but I think they just overdid it with the movie stuff. The beauty of it is the big league teams playing in a small venue. Like when big time rock bands play small clubs under made up names. I love your idea of playing a game outside negro leagues baseball museum, but it would be also cool just to find other remote areas that don’t have local pro teams and play at small fields there.
100% agree!
Completely. This would’ve been much better if they just let the ballpark / uniforms / moment speak for itself.
Still, there is something there, if MLB / Fox could get slightly out of the way.
Stop biting on the slider boys
Abreu home run. Corn row 15, stalk 7
Lynn does not look sharp
Should have thrown at least one pitch in the dirt to judge
We look like the Twins against the Yankees this year
Quality at bat by Timmy.
Yeah he is form now …slump over
Cesar Hndz looking uncomfortable vs Heany though
Eloy power is amazing. I am sure he can hit a homer during a check swing
I always knew they had porches in Iowa farm country.
Until tonight though I never realized they were that short.
Is the pen up? Lance has thrown over 100 pitches …Cairo.???
Why is Mendick on the team? Do they get an extra man for the novelty game?
Yup. Not sure why.
Is this the worst strike zone we’ve seen this year?
Just Pathetic
I feel like I’ve seen this ending before.
Two Cornruns allowed… shit. I can’t stay awake anymore.
Money well spent on Hendriks. He really looks like he’s in great shape for a deep playoff run…
Too much unpredictability closing in big games. He should switch with Kimbrel.
I think the bonus of having two closers is you have two closers. Hendriks is elite. Kimbrel is elite.
It was a smaller field, ball was flying, and he was coming off an unnecessarily long rest. Let’s not over-react.
I agree. Hendricks is good but has a lot of blown saves. I’ll take the win, but still… Kimbrel is a HOF closer, this is Liam’s 2nd full season as one. Flip-flop is good.
Thanks Cubs! Because without you, this is an awful stretch of baseball.
Every time Hendriks goes on a long rest, he returns bad. He needs to pitch more often.
Yes! One more reason TLR was wrong to leave Keuchel in earlier in the week. Hendricks/all the relievers need high leverage work, even if against the twins.
Motherfuckin TA7!!!!
oMG….OMG
What a fucking game
I love this team.
Glad we’re spending ridiculous money on two closers and the bullpen is still a weakness. Hendriks better figure things out quick. That was embarrassing.
Too soon.
Huge walk by Zavala
Wow! This has to be the most fun baseball game I have seen in a long time. The field, the game and the result everything was perfect. (Except Hendricks. He was not perfect!)
I think saying Hendriks was not perfect is kind.
I think an overlooked positive of recent Sox play is Bummer has now pitched well for many outings in a row (since he was a disaster in Milwaukee shortly after being knocked around by the Astros). Even if pitching well (less imperfectly), Hendriks, Kimbrel, and Kopech won’t be able to cover all the bullpen innings in the post-season and Bummer pitching well could be a huge help in covering the rest of those innings.
Don’t forget Tepera and Crochet. But yeah, Bummer has been better, a definite positive.
I think a post-season team can never have too many bullpen arms. Last year was an odd year with the expanded rosters but the Dodgers had 11 different pitchers enter in relief for a total of 27 relief appearances over the 6 games of the 2020 World Series.
This is the greatest fact ever!
