I’ll take that trade every day too: Runners on the corners with 2 outs and Lamb up vs. a run and the inning is over. I haven’t looked at run expectancy charts yet, but I’m sure runners on the corners and 2 outs is worth less than 1 run.
Yep, via run expectancy charts, all of the 2 out situations are worth less than a run, and runners on the corners is worth less than half a run, so that worked out very well.
That was hilarious. Didn’t anyone on the Tribe see his directing? It’s not like he was being subtle. You expect those types of boneheaded plays from a team like the Pirates, but not from a Francona team.
Pitching is too easy for Carlos these days, so he spotted them two home runs to try to keep things interesting.

I know jorts are a fashion abomination,, but they’re just so practical. Durable, airy, and if you get the carpenter pocket for your phone and hammer loop? Sweet mercy!
The guy could never stay healthy when he was younger, so you wouldn’t expect it now. Sucks we had to play him more than we planned to, we might have already run him ragged.
Every outfielder has been overexposed so it’s hard to be mad at any of them. Considering the best case outfield won’t start a game together until September you just – as Jim said – hope they can keep marking days off the calendar.
Congratulations to home umpire, Sean Barber, for setting a new consecutive strikeout record for Cleveland!

I detest Cleveland with every ounce of my being.
As an aside, if they are no longer the “Indians”, why is it scripted on their jerseys? Why is it inscribed behind home plate?
Trash organization.

I like “dominant Rodon” more than “grindy Rodon” but I appreciate them both.

It occurs to me that we’re breaking the “it’s never been less valuable to advance to third” metric in this game. 3 of our 5 runs wouldn’t have scored from any other base.
Karinchak’s a closer so I’m not sure I understand the question. ????

I’m a little surprised they aren’t using Karinchak here. Even if using your closer traditionally, this is the last inning of a home game for them, so there’s no possibility of a save. If they take the lead from this point on, they win.
Awesome, but can Hamilton steal home too? I’m not sure anybody can put the ball in play vs. Karinchak.

It doesn’t look like anybody’s warming. Really? No preparation if Bummer can’t throw strikes again? This could still be winnable after he faces three batters, even if he doesn’t get any out.
I think you just got him at the end there, so thanks for requesting.

Well, first inning Lambert could certainly be useful.

Interesting pinch hitting and not pinch hitting there in the 7th. Pinch hit with Leury and don’t pinch hit for Hamilton against a RHP with good hitters who can hit home runs on the bench.
This interesting trivia question was discussed on a TV or radio broadcast earlier this year:
What do Terry Francona and Andrew Vaughn have in common with each other?
I am very interested in this answer, so hopefully you’ll post it if no one guesses correctly by the end of the doubleheader.
Terry Francona and Andrew Vaughn both won the Golden Spikes award as the top amateur baseball player in the country.
That’s cool – I knew Vaughn did, but I didn’t know that Francona was that type of player.
Awesome, maybe Eaton will be a bit reinvigorated after resting his legs.
Even Anderson’s TOOTBLANs reveal his high baseball IQ.

Sporting of Carlos to spot Cleveland a couple of runs before the bottom of the order (and Tim’s rundown) put up a 4-spot.

Don’t you hate pants?
The worst.
Eaton looks over the hill.
If Eaton is the planned, “acceptable” option for RF, nobody should have a problem with trying Vaughn there regularly, as might be best down the road.

This Umps zone is a joke
Seems to be working for McKenzie but not anyone else.
Yup, just called a low curveball a strike that wasn’t

Rare mental mistake for Tim. He had an easy force at second there, unless Madrigal didn’t cover in time or something (didn’t see his positioning).
I love the way Rodon competes. He is pretty tough
So which non-closer comes in to issue some walks in a tie game in the seventh?

The upside of him scuffling is not just that he’s in line for the loss but that we almost certainly won’t see him again today.
Yeah, great point

Whew, big double play
I prefer previous versions of Aaron Bummer. When asked.
