Guests: Collin Whitchurch and Nick Schaefer, Baseball Prospectus
The Baseball Prospectus Top 101 prospect list was just released, and editors Collin Whitchurch and Nick Schaefer join the show to discuss Luis Robert, Nick Madrigal, Michael Kopech, and Andrew Vaughn. They also answer questions from Sox Machine Patreon supporters about the overall state of the farm system and the prospects they think can breakout in 2020.
Jim and Josh speculate how the Mookie Betts situation will unfold, and what impact that may have on the White Sox chances for a postseason spot. In the end, they answer your questions in P.O. Sox.
Matthew Povilaitis
If the White Sox don’t go after an upgrade for RF next year in trade or FA, do you think not signing Castellanos was a missed opportunity? He seems to fit more into their traditional cost structure than the Tier I RF FA available next year ( like Betts or Springer).
Andrew Segall
Out of Burdi, Hamilton, Johnson, or Matt Foster, are you confident in anyone’s ability to be either a productive addition to the bullpen or be an attractive trade chit?
Doug Weerts
Do you think the Sox could trade for Kris Bryant? Put him in Right Field for 2 years? Huge cost for 2 years. Might put us over the top.
Derek King
I've heard talk of James McCann being Lucas Giolito's personal catcher. Do you think he will be? If so, and assuming Giolito starts on opening day, are the Sox really going to open the season without one of Grandal or Encarnacion in the lineup?
Asinwreck
Even though he never played for the White Sox, should native Chicagoan Curtis Granderson have a role with the organization?
Pointerbabe
I’m sure they’ll be trotting out the new ballpark food items very soon. Is there anything not yet available that you’d like to see served at the park?
