PREAMBLE

The Sox took major steps forward but more help is needed. Who knows what Jerry will do but if it were up to me, I would attack the offseason like this...

ARBITRATION-ELIGIBLE PLAYERS

Write “tender” or “non-tender” after each player and their projected 2020 salaries. Feel free to offer explanation afterward if necessary.

    • Alex Colomé, $10.3M- Tender, duh
    • Yolmer Sánchez, $6.2M- na na na na hey hey goodbye
    • James McCann, $4.9M- Tender
    • Carlos Rodon, $4.5M-Tender
    • Leury García, $4M-Tender
    • Evan Marshall, $1.3M- Tender
    • Josh Osich, $1M- non-tender, MILB contract
    • Ryan Goins, $900K- non-tender, MILB contract

CLUB OPTIONS

Write “pick up” or “decline” after the option.

    • Welington Castillo: $8 million/$500,000 buyout- The Beef Welington is spoiled. See ya!

OTHER IMPENDING FREE AGENTS

Try to retain, or let go?

    • Jose Abreu (made $16M in 2019)- 2yr/25 mil
    • Iván Nova (made $9,166,167 in 2019) Let Go- He held a nice place on the roster last year but I cant help but wonder which Nova we get. Not worth the risk.
    • Jon Jay (made $4M in 2019) Later
    • Hector Santiago (made $2M in 2019 on split contract) MILB

FREE AGENTS

No. 1: JD Martinez 3yr/65 mill

This is a no-brainer. He bulks up the lineup and adds protection to the young guys and help Abreu with the weight. Great idea and it will help a lot more than we know.

No. 2 :Yasmani Grandal 4yr/ 80 mill

Switch hitting Catcher with Power and good pitch framing to help our young staff? SIGN ME UP!

No. 3: Alex Wood 1 yr/ 3 mil (7 mil team option for year 2)

The White Sox young rotation needs a fall back option/ 6th starter/ long reliever to cushion growing pains. Thats where Wood falls in.  Wether it's taking on a start against a lefty heavy line up or stopping the bleeding in the second inning.

No. 4: Asdrubal Cabrera 1 yr/ 7.5 mil

Take second till Madrigal is ready, becoming a utility player when Madrigal is here and MAYBE dangle him at the deadline.

No. 5: Zack Wheeler 4 yr/ 45 Mil

A low end ace or a high end number 2. He can provide good innings and a solid rotation leader without stepping on Giolito's progress. It’s a bit of money, but well spent.

No. 6. Dellin Betances 2 yr/ 22 Mil

Shutdown righty in the bullpen. He could work the middle; set-up or even close if need be. Since he is coming off an injury filled season he won’t be getting the big deal he thought he would, however; he will still be getting paid.

No. 7 Julio Teheran 1 yr/ 3 mil

Prove yourself contract.

MILB DEALS:

Adronys Vizcaino, Gordon Beckham

TRADES

Propose trades that you think sound reasonable for both sides, and the rationale behind them. A good example of a bad idea:

No. 1: Trade Luis Gonzalez, Carson Fulmer and Lenyn Sosa to Seattle for Mitch Haniger

We knows what we are giving up in the first 2 players and it’s time. Sosa is a low level glove first middle infielder who is the 30th ranked prospect in the Sox System. Haniger was a 2018 All- Star and was off to a decent start in 2019 before he went down with a...well unfortunate injury.. He's due for a nice big season. If he can put up big power numbers in Seattle's big ballpark, imagine him in our small park.

TEAM SPENDING: $120,480,000

The team spending this much is uncharted territory for the Sox. Now is the time for Reinsdorf to make the push for one more ring and show the world he isn't cheap (lol yeah right ? ) A lot of money is being thrown here, but the commitment is not long. The window has busted open. The time to start is now!
