Arizona Fall League recap: Nov. 13, 2018

Nicopanico / Wikipedia

Tuesday was an ordinary day for Luis Robert in the box score, as he went 1-for-5 with a strikeout and grounded into a double play.

But it was an extraordinary day for Luis Robert content.

*La Vida Baseball puts Robert in the context of the White Sox' Cuban heritage.

In July of 2017, Chicago made a big production out of the day Moncada was called up. A similar welcome must be on Robert’s mind.

“It makes me glad to be part of that tradition,” Robert said. “Several Cubans have come through the White Sox and had good results here. I just want to play well like they did.”

*Jim Callis wrote up Robert after Robert won the Arizona Fall League's latest Player of the Week Award.

*Baseball America's Kyle Glaser focused on Robert's motor:

It’s his effort—a boundless enthusiasm that translates into a ceaseless motor on the diamond, turning outs into hits and creating runs out of thin air. [...]

"I work hard always, I run hard every time every play,” Robert said through teammate Laz Rivera, who was translating. "I’m very prideful in all my efforts that I make. I try to run everything hard, even if it’s a fly ball or ground ball. I’ve been playing like that since Cuba. That’s what I feel like the White Sox like about me.”
