White Sox Minor Keys: April 10, 2018

As part of its annual Opening Day roster analysis, Baseball America released lists noting the youngest 10 players at every level.

You can see why the Braves are so highly regarded — with Ronald Acuna, Kolby Allard and Mike Soroka starting the season in Gwinnett, they have the three youngest players in the International League, as well as the two youngest in the Southern League.

The White Sox, conversely, only make a couple of appearances on the list. Michael Kopech is the seventh-youngest player in the International League, and while it seems like Spencer Adams has been around forever, he’s still the 10th-youngest player in the Southern League. That’s

Norfolk 7, Charlotte 1

*Eloy Jimenez is slated to start the season at Birmingham, but since the Barons were off, here’s where I’ll note that he appeared in an extended spring training game, going 0-for-4.

Winston-Salem 6, Myrtle Beach 4

*Chris Paul, the Winston-Salem native and Wake Forest star, purchased a share of ownership in the Dash.

Kannapolis 5, Asheville 4

*Matt Cassidy of Future Sox was at the game.

Great summary, as always. Do you think Gillaspie is going to get a call-up even if Abreu and Davidson are healthy, or does he seem like a bust at this point?

He kind of reminds me of Davidson. Top 100 prospect, big things expected, and stalled out in AAA. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sox called him up at some point just to give him that chance to show something, like they did with Davidson. That being said, there are so many more interesting players in the system now than there were when Davidson came up, so maybe there’s just no room to waste at bats on Gillaspie.

Sounds like McClure could be serviceable if he cleans it up a bit. He’ll be fun to watch.

I’m excited about him. Hopefully he provides a bit more of a payoff than our mutual excitement over Tyler Danish.

Basabe seems to be off to a hot start.  Exciting

Excited about the Chris Paul development. He’s quoted in the Winston-Salem Journal as saying his investment is part of a team plan to raise money “to do more things.”
Would love to see the area embrace the White Sox more and I doubt you could find a better local spokesman for that than CP. http://www.journalnow.com/sports/dash_baseball/nba-star-chris-paul-buys-minority-share-of-winston-salem/article_9a4e7828-88ea-577f-9e35-4908eb3c78ab.html
