Writing about the White Sox for a 16th season, first here, then at South Side Sox, and now here again. Let’s talk curling.
Only 7 games behind the tigers, chance to change that!
to 14?
Pedro’s boys don’t win.
Knee high grab on the warning track, Colas looking good in right.
White Sox need a lot of tightening…. A LOT
F THIS
Quality cutoff, Vaughn. What exactly does he do? Reliable attendance? Tim hugger?
Torkelson is bad, and yet I rather have him than Vaughn
Underwater he’d be great. Something in the name.
Tenser Snorkelson
Torkelson had an .892 OPS in August and has a good shot at a 30-homer season. He’s struggled since his debut, but there are indications he’s starting to figure things out this year.
Vaughn, for his part, has been pretty ass since the All-Star break.
You meant since he was called up?
Vaughn’s bat has oscillated at an above average level, but he’s once again fading late in the season and hasn’t really advanced his stats. If anything, it seems like the league is figuring him out and he’s slow to adjust.
I’m sorry but I don’t see it. And he is getting worse over time. Josh was saying in his podcasts that pitchers discovered Vaughn cannot hit sweepers to the left side mostly because he has short arms and cannot reach, and when he does, it produces weak contact. We should have kept Burger and sent Vaughn to the Marlins instead, but he is untouchable.
Oh, I wasn’t trying to argue Vaughn is any good. He’s a very below-average player and a horrible use of the third overall draft pick. The White Sox drafted him to be a middle-of-the-order hitter and he’s just not that and I no longer think he’s going to become one. His complete lack of a secondary skill that rates even above the tenth percentile just compounds the problem.
HA what was that tag on miggy???
How do you miss the Miggy glacier??
non tag. I’m with he’s safe and we need to sell the team.
They’re “lucky” the ump missed the initial call.
however it held up against a future hall of famer, I guess the betting isn’t on that play.
You know who makes that tag?
Salvador Perez.
I hope I’m not the only one who doesn’t want Salvador to be anywhere near the Sox. I can’t wait until he never plays this game again. him and Verlander. I have my reasons. go on, have good careers but GTFO soon, k thanks.
With the catcher pile the Sox assembled, there’s really no reason.
“There’s really no reason” doesn’t seem to stop the white sox, though.
“we can always use one more”. Oh I know.
You are absolutely not the only one who doesn’t want to see that.
thanks Trooper, I’m happy now. I can die a lonely HAPPY lizard per stockroomsnail that I may have been or am a lizard.
To be fair, I accuse nearly everyone of being a lizard person.
Well if everyone would just stop licking their eyeballs…….
BUT THEY’RE SO TASTY
And he has 2 homers today
You talking about Pedro and Getz? Salvy homers?
Glad I just checked the box score instead of wasting time actually watching this goat fuck of a game.
gross. I’m watching it and it’s grosser still.
Beau Brieske is a sonuvabitch!
I’m glad they mentioned Greinke as a likely hall-of-famer as I think he’s a lock. The most likely hall-of-famer that I think they missed is Mookie Betts. Betts is only 30 (till October 7) and is still playing at an elite level.
I think Harper and Machado will be also (30 and 31, respectively).
I think Machado and Harper (and Arenado and others) have a shot but I think Betts is the player closest to joining the club of active players who are already locks beyond the group mentioned by Len and Steve (Trout, Kershaw, Verlander, Scherzer, Miggy, and Greinke).
I think Harper would have been a lock had he not been injured so often. Even in a lot of the games he played in he was not his best self but still produced. Hopefully he doesn’t go the way of Dale Murphy where he’s sitting on two MVPs and around 400 home runs but can’t get any traction.
Beau Brieske’s tears cure cancer. Too bad he never cries.
No facial hair until your ERA starts with a 5, you schmuck.
Just got back from lame game and fireworks. Watched from Fan Deck.
Scouting report on Sosa: can’t run fast, can’t move to his left or right, and can’t hit. Not an MLB level 2B. No need to see any more of him.
Lee can’t hit. ERod was throwing low 90’s and Lee couldn’t do anything with these pitches. I think the Astros picked our pocket. Also throws to the wrong side of 2B on steals.
Sox hitters from top to bottom chase pitches outside the zone. Don’t recognize sliders or change ups. Getz can’t change that. This is who these guys are.
Vaughn is too small to play MLB let alone 1B. Everybody on the Tigers were bigger than him when they stood next to him on 1B. He might be 6 feet tall, but that’s not good enough in 2023 to play at this level. No wonder he has no power or stamina.
I don’t know where Getz will begin. Maybe all but 2-3 players on this team are not good. The roster can’t be turned over to the extent it needs to in one off season.
Good for the folks who got the banner in and unfurled twice before the goon squad showed up. And what happened last Friday, goon squad, when shots were fired? You weren’t on top of that were you? But banners against the Chairman, we got that one, right?
Sell the team?
Vaughn isn’t 6 feet. 5’10” at best.
