Can Zach put together a Yerminish beginning to his major league career? I hope so. He’s an easy kid to root for.

MattVerplaetse

Seems unlikely. Mercedes had a track record of crushing AAA pitching. Remillard has no such track record, having had particularly uninspiring numbers in Charlotte this year.

Augusto Barojas

I think his fate will be like that of Haseley, who got 4 hits in a game early this year. Probably back to AAA in very little time, and yesterday will wind up the lone highlight of a short to non existent mlb career. As Matt said, there is no track record to believe otherwise.

Al Kohallik

Said it before different team since Renteria dismissal and even more so since Yermingate

Augusto Barojas

What’s the over/under for number of runs Lynn will give up in the first? Maybe he will shock us all and give up none.

Augusto Barojas

To use the word “dealing” with Lynn seems comical, but he kind of is through 2, surprisingly.

a-t

I think that qualifies as “dealing” in any book

As Cirensica

Unlike the offense who is ‘dealing’ 4 hits

Foulkelore

He pitched ok today.

Augusto Barojas

I turned off the game after he gave up 2 in the 3rd, thinking I jinxed him. To find out later he got 16K’s. What to think? That’s certainly not Keuchel-esque, that’s for sure. But too little, too late for this team.

Joliet Orange Sox

Lynn threw 114 pitches and left the game trailing 2-1 after giving up Wong’s bunt single to open the 8th. Lynn struck out 16 mostly by getting 33 swing-and-misses. The Mariners had a xBA of 0.103 for the day (and that includes Kelenic’s hard-hit triple off of López).

Ignoring Lynn’s season as a whole and looking at just today, Lynn pitched better than ok in my opinion.

Augusto Barojas

I am pretty sure Foulke was being sarcastic/understating. 16 K’s is much better than OK.

Foulkelore

Augusto is correct. It was tongue-in-cheek after a ridiculous performance.

As Cirensica

Andrew Vaughn has a .320 obp, yet, to me he seems to always be an easy out.

Al Kohallik

Yeah da bloom is off dat rose

As Cirensica

He promptly makes the last out for a 4 for nil day.

As Cirensica

Rey Lopez is not good.

As Cirensica

I mean, this is the 2nd time he shits the bed in this series

Augusto Barojas

I flipped the game on in the 8th, down 2-1, to see him walk the bases loaded with Kelenic up. I told my dad that the score would probably be between 4 and 6 to 1 after his at bat. I thought a homer was more likely than a triple, but still. Pretty spot on expectation of ReyLo!

Adam

All offseason we heard about TA and Rey-Lo at Driveline. Do they offer refunds?

As Cirensica

Sounds like something Jerry would say

Adam

Ha! Jerry would never spend the money in the first place. We got plenty of tools around here to use

Augusto Barojas

TA may not be on the DL, but is competely lost. A -0.7 WAR. Just awful.

ReyLo would be DFA material for a lot of teams, but the Sox don’t have anybody better. You are right, those two are just brutal.

chibaseball35

This was the last straw for me with Grifol. I gave him time and the benefit of the doubt. IMO he should not be managing a MLB team.

As Cirensica

i came to the realization he is not a good managar a month ago

BillyKochFanClub

You won’t win many games scoring one run, but Grifol constantly going to Lopez in high leverage/close games is concerning. Talks a big game about accountability but neither Lopez or Tim Anderson can seem to do anything to play their way out of their roles. How much evidence do you need, Grifol?

Al Kohallik

I honestly don’t care who goes anymore …if these players showed half the enthusiasm they did in WBC this team would be in better shape, but that said the disdain the average fan feels for FO can only be a fraction that players feel towards FO …worst organization in organized sports

SkeeterSkeeterman

Bag fan or down graph? I vote bag fan

brianp88

The list of games in which the starting pitcher whiffs 16 hitters and his team still loses can’t be a very long list. SMH.

Augusto Barojas

The list of teams that have scored 3 or less in more than 1/2 their games can’t be too long either. They scored 3 total runs in their 2 losses, and if they hadn’t gotten lucky scratching across a run in the 9th inning the day before, would have scored 2 then as well. Just a brutal, god awful lineup day in and day out.

Didn’t see the game, but warrior performance by Lance on father’s day. He’s got no business starting the 8th and that’s on the manager. Kelly and Graveman not available? This bullpen has to cover 4 innings almost everyday, they can’t hide anyone.
