Lynn doing what Lynn does.

HallofFrank

It’s a bummer they only got one run from their one-allotted scoring inning.

As Cirensica

Day game….ugh

Adam

Thankfully the A’s exist or we would be dead last in home runs allowed.

a-t

Not sure I like Lance’s solution to the accusation that he walks too many guys

Adam

I’d rather see Scholtens

As Cirensica

No shit…You might have a point.

As Cirensica

That unraveled quickly. Lynn ERA is a tad bit over 6. It is June. This is not a small sample. This is just not good.

a-t

This is what washed looks like

As Cirensica

Yeah.. I think he is done. Toast. Cooked. Keuchelized. That we keep trotting him every five days is just because we don’t have any other option. Perhaps when Clevinger returns, use Scholtens, and move Lynn to long relief? I don’t know. He can’t keep pitching for a major league team anymore.

As Cirensica

Among qualifying pitchers, Lance Lynn has the 2nd worst ERA. Only Jordan Lyles is worst. The most disheartening thing from this list of horrid ERAs is that Dylan Cease is the 9th worst😨

Which takes me back to a point I made in April, the largest problem this team have is pitching. The offense is OK even if at times it does not seem to be able to hit the Jordan Lyles of the world.

LamarHoyt_oncrack

Amazing how players don’t seem to do as well when not facing the Guardians or Royals. A total mystery.

As Cirensica

WOW…Lynn is still pitching? I am barely following the game thru espn gamecast

Joliet Orange Sox

Why waste a bullpen arm.

As Cirensica

Speaking of waste, why is Scholtens pitching now?

upnorthsox

They are reactivating Clevinger for Friday

As Cirensica

And keeping Scholtens in line to take on next Lynn’s start. Makes sense.

upnorthsox

Lynn to the IL with an inflamed ERA…

Adam

If throwing bp wasn’t enough, walk enough hitters so you have to face Trout and Ohtani every inning.

My biggest issue with Sox pitching, they never walk the big guys. Walk Trout and Ohtani! It’s always the bottom guys so the big guns hit with runners on

palkadance

Was Keuchel this bad at the end? We can’t keep running this out there. It’s a joke.

Joliet Orange Sox

Keuchel was significantly worse.

Lynn’s game scores for this season (including today): 57,15, 56, 32, 42, 59, 50, 23, 62, 60, 58, and 16. That’s a mean of 44.17 and a median of 53.

Keuchel’s game scores in 2022 up to the DFA: 48, –2, 51, 35, 52, 59, 23, and 20. That’s a mean of 35.75 and a median of 41.5.

LamarHoyt_oncrack

His prior 3 outings he gave up 2 earned or less in each. So I doubt today’s performance means that we will be deprived of the joy of seeing him vs the Yankees next week.

As Cirensica

Judge can’t wait

LamarHoyt_oncrack

I think he will probably circle that night on his calendar, as “party night”.

brianp88

I’m tired of this guy. I really am. Everything is up in the zone. Thinks he can beat hitters with rising fastballs. The league has caught on. Do something different.

brianp88

Jeebus. Four innings, eight runs, all earned, two walks, two men hit by pitch, 89 pitches in four innings. Sure take him out of the rotation, but replace him with who? This is a sad state of affairs.

As Cirensica

I propose to replace him with the iPitch machine.

As Cirensica

I think one of the reasons our hitters look without energy and apathetic is because we have had way too many games where our starting pitcher put the game away by the 3rd inning. This needs to be Lynn’s last start. Either put him on the “IL” or DFA’ed. This kind of performance is unacceptable. This is not that he has had a couple of bad outings, this is a theme.

670WMAQtheElder

The guys know who’s good and who is not. We’ve all been on teams when we know that so and so can’t do it.

upnorthsox

Are those distances on the HR’s for real? 461, 425, 459? Those aren’t HRs they are moonshots.

a-t

Oh yeah they’re absolute nukes. Shohei’s second was maybe 20 feet from the right center concourse

palkadance

3 and 4 come up with runners on… and they both whiff. Why do I care so much when they don’t…

670WMAQtheElder

Because we are fans. A dwindling population.

ForsterFTOG

Late 70’s formed rock group fronted by Chrissy Hynde and your 2023 Chicago White Sox.

Alfornia Jones

Don’t get me wrong, but the Sox might come back from their next road trip and find out that my city was gone.

bfl5916

Baseball has many problems, and this is one of them. You pay a player a ton of money and all of a sudden he forgets how to play the game. Happens over and over and over. The Sox are far from one of the only teams this happens to. All over the league big money is at home or on the golf course thinking about how good they used to be. NFL has a similar problem, but not nearly as ridiculous. For me, I’m Lance Lynn done. Look to move him and the $. A contender out there will be on the phone very soon. They will fix him. He’s 36. Two young arms please!!!

670WMAQtheElder

Some guys get very comfortable when they’ve made the kind of money these guys can get. Who wouldn’t? You can buy pretty much everything you’d want. Villa in Monaco? Sure. Any villa anywhere on the ocean. It’s disgusting to see people not earn their keep.

Joliet Orange Sox

Wallach’s homer was only 431 feet.

Adam

It’s so easy to homer off sox pitchers. It’s amazing. Is that what Grifol brought from kc? Benintendi, Alberto, Tosar, and pitchers who get bombed by the league? I know it should be more on Katz but this is new.

670WMAQtheElder

I am not sure it is Katz as much as the “talent” he has to work with.

upnorthsox

Burger bomb….because he can.

670WMAQtheElder

Lynn’s had it. Nice career. There are just so many pitches in a guy’s arm. Maybe some playful hopeful will take him.
