Already in progress…

Writing about the White Sox for a 16th season, first here, then at South Side Sox, and now here again. Let’s talk curling.

Sox playing some solid defense so far. Maybe Leurys value is in playing both 3b and left field at the same time when Vaughn or Eloy is out there
Ok… I am late, let’s do this again
Am I crazy for wanting Elvis Andrus, white sox starting 2b next year? Maybe falling in love with a small sample size
I like him, too. You could do worse, but I wouldn’t pay him very much. I think they could get similar production from guys they already have in-house.
I am crazier because I am not missing TA
I am.
Following on Gameday. Is Giolito as wild as Gameday is making out to be today?
I don’t think so. He’s actually looked pretty good before falling behind a bit this inning. He’s not getting any swings out of the zone though. I’ve thought a couple of his change ups down were really good pitches, twins just didn’t bite
Cool. Gameday is making it look like every other pitch is over the hitters’ heads.
The zone hasn’t been great either. Early in the game he hit the bottom of zone box but didn’t get the call. So you think ok maybe it’s higher. But then he’s hit the top of the zone box and didn’t get that either. So I guess the zone is just small
Still no Robert?!?
On the radio pregame they said he is expected to start the first game vs. Seattle.
Good I’ll be there to see him 🙂
Leury – left third fielder
Maybe falling behind is what they needed. Enough of this King Kong Bundy bs, let’s get some runs off this bum
THAT, right there is why the White Sox should trade Eloy
No way that was blocking. The throw took him to the inside.
Baldelli is a dope
Baldelli is a tool
Fulmer’s giving up rockets.
Eloy’s EV was 107.6 mph
Sheets’s EV was 106.6 mph
Grandal’s EV was 107.4 mph
Pollock’s EV was only 101.2 mph. Sorry to see Fulmer pulled.
Add Pollock’s 101.2 mph, but now Fulmer’s out. Boo.
Adam Hasely can do literally nothing right. How can he not score? And why him vs the faster Engel? Frustrated.
HE had to make sure the ball wasn’t caught
Yep I’m with you there but he should be standing on 2nd base. So when it kicks off the glove he’s off and scores. When he catches it, he retreats to first. I’ve just seen nothing from hasely all year
The outfielder did get a glove on it, but I never saw a view showing the runner at the same time, so I’m not sure if Haseley messed up or not there. He had to make sure it wasn’t caught though.
Likewise, stone said he got a bad jump though, that’s what I was basing the comment on
That was … not what I would have done.
Leury couldn’t hit that guy with a banjo. A guy with absolutely no power should be able to get a better bunt down than that.
I might enjoy Leury’s at bats if he had to hit with a banjo. That would be entertaining.
Why not challenge that squeeze play? It looked like Sanchez put his knee down in front of the plate (again).
I don’t think it should have been overturned (think his knee went down in the process of getting the ball), but since it was the bottom of the 7th, and the challenge doesn’t matter anymore, they had nothing to lose and should have tried. It’s a judgment call, and you never know how the office is going to rule on those. Plus, if overturned, Baldelli might need to be committed.
Moran can’t pitch 3 innings, so the White Sox will face a lesser reliever at some point
I meant Duran
Poor job by Zavala there. He didn’t even attempt to move to block it and should have caught it anyway (hit his glove before the dirt).
Diekman was a great pickup. And they have him next year as well, for a bargain 3.5M. Hahn sure is smart.
You’ll feel better when the PTBNL makes his first All-Star team…
Ditto Velasquez
I’m really tired of watching Vaughn wave at baseballs like they’re starting a sea voyage.
He shouldn’t be in the outfield. I don’t know why this organization keeps thinking it’s a good idea to put first basemen in the corners in the outfield but the results are utterly predictable.
Yeah the idea that anyone can play corner OF has been thoroughly debunked by this dumb franchise.
Totally agree and wish we made much earlier switches to the better (and faster and better, faster baserunning) outfielders after two or, at most three at bats by the “sluggers.” Managers of “good teams” need to trust their pitchers; and, that they have been given players that can deliver a major league at bat when defensive liabilities can be late gamechangers.
And I do want this managed like is it a “good team.”
…this WS team managed like it is a “good team.”
This game was lost because another big moment at the plate found Leury fucking Garcia and he can’t hit worth a damn and because Vince fucking Velasquez was entrusted to get the top of the Twins order out in the 9th.
Seattle beats Cleveland in an 8 and a half hour game, and then has to fly back to Seattle to play the Sox tomorrow. That couldn’t have gone any better.
