To Err is Herrmann

The decimated Cincinnati Reds are on track to be the worst team in baseball history. With a .125 winning percentage, they are far worse than the 1962 New York Mets. The lovable losers — Marvelous Mark Throneberry, Choo Choo Coleman, Vinegar Bend Mizzell — led by crusty, bewildered manager Casey “Can’t anyone here play this game?” Stengel are the stuff of myth and lore. The collapse of the Reds are just a story of greed, venality and contempt. The players were right to seek a salary floor.
