Way to start it off, Tim!
Watching Sox hit fingers in Wrigley never gets old!
Any word on why they switched lineups?
The broadcasters stated that it was originally a scheduled day off for Tim, but he was hitting so well in batting practice, that the coaches told Tony he needs to be in tonight.
And Tim is 2 for 2 with hits at 104 mph and 106.7 mph, so those coaches were correct.
Good job by Cease shutting them down after the first hit. Don’t open the door even a crack after jumping out on top of them.
I’m glad the Sox chose to have Eloy available to hit in this series by allowing him to play the field.
These camera angles after the hits are horrendous.
I am starting to think Vaughn will be a fine CF too
I wish I could have appreciated his play better. I saw a view with ant-sized players from the ground level behind home plate followed by an extreme closeup of Vaughn jumping at the wall.
The guy behind camera control room is probably drunk
ESPN is giving some terrible camera angles…
Cease needs to maintain his focus
This is silly Cease
Why is the screen split into Al Michael’s face and why the fuck all the sudden the game is now like unimportant? What’s this shit broadcast?
The guys nonchalantly talking shit about when Hawk fired TLR while Eloy hits his 2nd homer. Make them stop. Somebody.
Truly bizarre choice. Who tunes into a baseball game to watch a zoom interview with Al Michael’s, with zoom audio quality and zoom video quality, while the actual game, with actual production value, sits in the background.
Obvious that the announcers know nothing about these teams or players. They have done about everything except call the game.
ABC should get the Sox and Cubs announcers together and call every other inning. That would allow them to introduce the team and players to the general public.
It’s weird how they are working overtime to defend LaRussa as well.
This broadcast is excruciating. How is ARod still doing this?
We have become spoiled for sure.
And yes, Arod is like a hair in a biscuit.
Two things about this broadcast: it is aimed at a national audience and it is presented as a return to baseball for ABC after many years. That is why we are seeing historical material not about the Cubs or the White Sox. Unlike the announcers on the local broadcasts who focus on the home team, these guys have been told by the network to broaden the coverage.
I’m enjoying watching Reynaldo López pitch.
I would enjoy it better with the sound off, given the quality of the broadcast.
I’ve seen enough: Vaughn in the rookie of the year. If Adolis or Arozarena—both of whom are in their *third* year of Major League Baseball—I’ll be very annoyed.
Agree. I actually not only think Vaughn is the RoY, but he will have better baseball career too.
I was thinking about who else is in the running for it. I can’t imagine anyone being asked to do so much in their rookie year and rise to the task without any experience playing in the outfield.
I also wondered who pigeon-holed him at 1st baseman when I saw him throw past the cut-off man to home early in the year. Maybe not the best but you have to respect it.
Akil Baddoo is right there, too. But, yeah, the being asked to cover LF, and now RF is enough, but he’s just been so solid out there. And now, after a slow start, he’s raking (whereas Baddoo’s season arch is the opposite).
Eric Hasse and Luis Garcia are other candidates, but they also have seen MLB time prior to this season. I certainly wouldn’t rule out a player that’s played in the Majors before 2021–a rookie is a rookie—but that should be considered. These guys have had extra time that Vaughn hasn’t to see major league pitching, struggle some, and make adjustments.
thanks, all good information.
I am warming up to the idea of Eloy, Luis, and Andrew in the outfield. That’s a lot of offense no pitcher wants to face.
