White Sox Minor Keys: May 29, 2021

It wasn’t until today that I realized how cooperative the weather has been in the Southeast. Besides the Birmingham opener that had to be rescheduled for a season-opening doubleheader the following day, all White Sox affiliates had been able to play their games on schedule …

… until Friday night, at least. Here are some half-full/half-empty Minor Keys for you:

Birmingham 8, Rocket City 6

  • Romy Gonzalez went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.
  • Micker Adolfo was 1-for-4 with a homer and two strikeouts.
  • Carlos Perez, 1-for-4 with a homer.
  • Ti’Quan Forbes was 2-for-4 with a K.
  • Blake Battenfield absorbed his first not-good start of the year: 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 3 HR

Winston-Salem 2, Hickory 0

  • Lenyn Sosa went 1-for-4 with a K.
  • Yolbert Sanchez, 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
  • Luis Curbelo had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and an HBP.
  • Luis Mieses was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
  • Duke Ellis, 0-for-2 with a walk and a K.

Notes:

*Former White Sox farmhand Avery Weems: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

Really hope Micker can overcome the literal bazillion injuries he’s had and become good. Even if it is a fools hope.
