NCAA Basketball Top 25 – 6 or so B1G teams including the beloved orange and blue
NCAA Wrestling Top 25 – 10 or so B1G teams including the beloved orange and blue
NCAA Baseball Top 25 – not so much
I recognize this a longtime fact related to weather.
If the Tigers get another near-ready elite pitcher I’m going to be very very sad.
And, if I were the Pirates ownership, I think I would trade away Hayes for a big haul of younger prospects and just really dig in for a long deep rebuild. Aim for a couple more super high drafts in a row and grab the top prep player each time.
Yeah, with their owner being the skinflint he is (amazingly worse than Reinsdorf in this regard, and by far), I don’t see him being able to assemble enough talent around Hayes before he’s ready to depart. Cherington’s best bet is to load up on long-term, high-upside talent and look toward the back half of this decade to start a new window of contention.
In baseball, I’d always go best player available, positional fit be damned. If the prospect is good and ends up blocked, fantastic. Trade either the prospect or player blocking them for a positional fit you know is good.

Same for the Rockies tbh.

Based on the draft record of the Red Sox while Ben Cherington was GM, I am going to guess the Pirates will pick either Leiter or Rocker.
