If you want your postseason excitement, you’re going to have to settle for Charlotte, which expanded its wild card lead to three games over Durham with a third straight victory at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Knights go for the sweep tonight behind Dylan Covey, but even if they get it done, they can’t get that cocky. They host Durham for three more next week.

Vaughn has cooled….
You can usually throw the first half year after being drafted out the window anyways. its an extremely long season for first year draftees with an overwhelming amount of change happening in their life. He made it to High-A so its already a win. I wouldn’t worry about him until May next year.
Yeah, I’d say the level he’s ascended to is an even bigger factor. While fatigue may play a part, the fact that he’s at a professional level significantly more advanced than what he experienced in college, it’s enough if he can even just hold his own.
Avery Weems, our 6# pick this year is having a very nice year.
He gave up 4 earned runs in one start and five earned runs total in his other 10 starts. Yesterday five innings of shut out ball with nine strike outs.
Jeremiah Jackson, a player you liked in the 2018 draft, is tearing up the Pioneer League for the Angels affiliate. Despite being 19 years old and only 165 lbs, he has 21 homers, a .982 ops, and a.369 iso. Makes me question mlb pipeline’s 45 power grade.
Yep. Also Alec Thomas, Gavin Lux, Jo Adell, Alex Krillof, Carter Kieboom, and C J Abrams, who I much preferred to Vaughn.
Oh wow, Alek Thomas, age 19, already at high A, projects as a CF and is playing well. The Sox should have known what he can be, considering the circumstances, yet they passed on him to add Steele W to their glut of redundant corner bats.
But, the Sox didn’t pass on Jo Adell, he went one spot before the Sox picked Burger.
I imagine fatigue is setting in a bit for Vaughn
