White Sox Minor Keys: May 3, 2019
Three games into his Birmingham career, Luis Robert is still seeking his first hit at Double-A. He’s 0-for-10 with two walks and four strikeouts, so he hasn’t served as the savior of the slog for a Barons offense that’s struggled to score.
That said, Luis Gonzalez continues to fare better than anybody who isn’t Joel Booker. He’s only hitting .224/.304/.357, but he notched his first homer at Regions Field Friday.

Yuck.
Jonathan Stiever has a chance to be somebody. He seems to have an idea of how to pitch.
The entire outfield struggling in Birmingham so far is a bit worrisome. Nick Madrigal slashing just 277/.355/.383 in High A is probably more worrisome. Thats not a *bad* slash line but a guy with his heralded hit tool needs to be hitting .300 at that level. Granted, if he was hitting .310/.355/.383 I’d be more content and thats the exact same OPS so maybe I’m worried over nothing.
Madrigal’s ceiling to me is Juan Pierre. They will need a lot around him to make up for his lack of power.
I like how Bush is settling in. If I’ve done my counting right, in his last 11 games he’s 15 for 38 with a homer, 2 triples, 3 doubles, 9 Ks, 8 BB, 3 steals. And he’s 2.4 years younger than average for the league.
Ugh
Alec Hansen bumped up to B’Ham:

It will be interesting to see if they will stretch him out or stick to trying to dominate for a couple of innings.
After 5 BB in his last 2 2/3 IP.(36 strikes in 74 pitches)
Interesting.
Agreed. I took that as a positive and that they dont think he fell out of whack or anything.
If anyone here’s a B-Pro subscriber, maybe check Monday for some news on Hansen, though probably unlikely. They had a writer at the game — Marcus Meade — planning to get a look at Nick Madrigal and Steele Walker, and he’s promised something on NM at least, but maybe? Here’s Meade’s fourth, final live tweet from last night:
Luis Ledo was the other pitcher out of the bullpen for the Dash. Tweet:
