White Sox Minor Keys: April 28, 2019

Luis Basabe is back in Birmingham, and the White Sox chose the more positive of available moves to facilitate it.

The Sox pushed Joel Booker to Charlotte, where he’ll get his first crack at Triple-A pitching. He earned the promotion after hitting .351/.400/.446 over his first 20 games. That batting average was good enough to lead the Southern League, and the overall production had no competition from Birmingham’s other outfielders.

Our Man in Charlotte Jonathan Lee talked to Booker before and after the game. Booker went 0-for-4 with a walk, stolen base and two strikeouts in his debut. It could be first-game jitters, but Booker said he saw a different level of pitching:

If Booker can get his sea legs, he should have some fun. The Knights lost 9-8, and that’s been the average score of a Knights game the past week.
